Immortalised by Toulouse Lautrec in his posters for the shows and paintings of dancing girls, the instantly recognisable and iconic Moulin Rouge Paris building symbolises the gaiety of Parisian nightlife.
If there’s one thing to know about popular cabaret show Moulin Rouge: It is where the original form of can-can dance was birthed. Which is probably the reason why it has become a must-see attraction in France. Comprising of four entertaining scenes, catch Féerie in two incredible hours. Choreographed by Bill Goodson, the show features 80 artists including 60 legendary Doriss Girls (think exotic feathers, rhinestones, sequins) performing spectacular dance routines.
Another reason why you shouldn’t miss it: Marvel at the stunning sets, brilliant backdrops and electrifying light shows. Expect a well-put performance consisting of moving staircases, swings, a giant aquarium, and more. The music? A classical piece by renowned film score composer Pierre Porte.
Below, highlights of the various scenes
2nd Scene: The Pirates - Sandokan
Two things can happen when a pirate gets stranded on an island (or at least that’s what it is about): Stumbling upon a pot of gold and rich treasures (think snakes, jewels, women, tigresses) and/or meeting the lady of his dreams. Find out here.
Picture a circus troupe making a grand arrival with its gang of clowns, Siamese twins, acrobats, jugglers, and quirky wild animals. Expect a vibrant and lively scene accompanied with melodious tunes. This scene concludes with an exciting parade of the Doriss Girls and Doriss Dancers.
4th Scene: The Moulin Rouge from 1900 to ...
The highlight of this is of course, seeing the Doriss Girls performing the world-famous Can Can dance. In honour of the Parisian women who fought for the Liberation of Paris, the Moulin Rouge also celebrates that with some Java or Boogie music.
